  • People extracting gold from the River Madre de Dios, just outside of Boca Colorado, Peru. Water and the bottom sand is sucked up and filtered to extract the gold. Mercury is used to extract the gold from the filtering carpets. This is of course an environmental disaster where the geology of areas is abused and the environment poisoned.
