  • A local fisherman along the Putumayo River near Yaguas. The fisherman is laying nets to catch Arowana fish. The arowana fish industry is included in a project hoping to provide locals with a sustainable source of income. this species are mouthbrooders (males keep the egg and young fish protected in their mouths). The Arowana are fished, the younf collected and the adult released again. The young are sold as ornamental fish to the aquarium industry. Peru. © Daniel Rosengren / FZS
